Description: Ballade for Strings is about the journey to and the arrive on the ultimate tonic key of D major at the very end of the piece, and not before. The work employs four distinct thematic elements (four phrases), starting in the relative minor and gravitating to the subdominant. The tempo then changes to 3/4 time where the first theme returns in B minor. concluding in ab augmentation of the second theme's 'B' section. The thrid and fourth elements return hinting at the home key, where the work begins the final journey to its resolution in D major. Expressive playing is required throughout.
