| Description: Originally composed in 1907 by Peadar O’ Cearnaigh (Kearney) and Patrick Heaney, Victor Herbert arranged this march song for piano and voice after the Easter Rebellion of 1916, and later for full orchestra. Noble and patriotic at its best, Herbert infused his pride of his Irish heritage in every note. It’s no wonder that Soldiers of Erin, or The Soldier’s Song (the rallying song of the Irish Volunteers), became the Irish national anthem. |
