| Description: Guerre was the foremost female composer of the French Baroque Period. She received a thorough education in music and as a teenager became a composer and musician in the court of King Louis XIV. Monday's stellar arrangement of Sonata in Trio No. 3, showcases three of the seven movements of Guerre's trio sonata in a seamless single movement arrangement. Rhythmically charged with syncopation and dotted rhythms, it's an energetic work which gives all sections engaging parts. Cello and bass parts are written in octaves. A superb choice for festival performances and should be included in every orchestra repertoire library! |
